Date: December 5, 2005 - ONLY GOULD CAN PENETRATE THE FORT IN VERGE MAC Fair Hill, MD, USA: When the Fort Frames/Greater Pittsburgh Orthopedic Associates team traveled to the final stop of the 2005 Verge Mid Atlantic cyclocross series on December 4, they had one goal -- “defend the fort!” With defending champions in both pro classes, and a dominator in the Master’s class, the Fort/GPOA team had their eyes on championships in all three money classes and the team championship. Ryan Leech and Mike Yozell pedaled their Fort bicycles into the record books, but Kona’s Georgia Gould was fast enough to penetrate the fort before the drawbridge was pulled up, taking her first cyclocross championship.Race day downed to greet racers with a cold, damp, overcast day with wind and fog. Date: December 4, 2005 - Augusta Cross Sees Record Attendance The weather was once again all-you-could-ask-for at the fourth and final event in the Augusta Cyclocross Series, co-hosted by Skylands Cycling and Team Bulldog, New Jersey’s largest mountain bike club. Sunny skies, light wind, and temps well into the forties marked the fourth straight week of full-tilt cooperation from mother nature. Maybe it was the weather, or the booming popularity of cross, or a combination of both, but the popular Augusta Series, which started four years ago as little more than a training series for the local clubs, experienced a doubling in attendance over last year. A total of 470 riders turned out to race on the 3k track at the scenic Sussex County Fairgrounds. READ MORE .............................................Full 2005 Mid-Atlantic schedule

Date: November 16, 2005 MABRA RACE REPORT #7 All you really needed in your kit bag for this last weekend was a pair of t-shirt and shorts. Ok, sunglasses and sunscreen were helpful too. The Evolution Cross and Race Pace Cross shared great weather and very fast courses. Both venues were easy to get to the day of and both offered good racing and some exciting results. The weather was so nice in fact that it made for good spectating, but the dry, warm conditions added a little discomfort for the racers, who had to figure out what layers to wear as the days got progressively warmer. Both venues at Ida Lee Park and Freedom park had great views of the courses and offered a little bit for families who came out. The Lil’ Belgians at Evolution were 10 deep on their very own course and the big Belgians had two very fast hilly courses over the weekend..............................................Full 2005 Mid-Atlantic schedule

Date: October 14, 2005 MABRA Cyclocrosss series race report Saturday, the rain fell hard upon the fields at Hagerstown. The course was fast and clean for only one race, and then the mud began. The course involved a water crossing and an interesting downhill u-turn as it made its way around fields at South Hagerstown High School. The rain didn’t keep the students from having band practice and some races had drum practice to accompany it. What was once navigable by bike became necessary to run. Corners became pits, off camber parts became goat tracks, the run ups became slops.
