September 12, 2007; Conshohocken, PA, USA : In conjunction with its very successful Ed Sander Memorial Cyclocross race, the National Capital Velo Club has organized one of the most comprehensive cyclocross clinics of the year on Saturday, September 29 (the day before the annual Ed Sander Memorial Cyclocross). The Lilypons Cyclocross Clinic will feature a 1:5 coach to rider ratio, and will be hosted by champion racers Andy Applegate and Deirdre “Dee Dee” Winfield.
Andy Applegate is an elite-level road, cyclo-cross and mountain bike racer; a multi-time national champion and the two-time defending champion of the Ed Sander Memorial. Andy is a is an Ultrafit and USA Cycling level 1 (Elite) certified coach and co-owner of the Velosports Performance Center in Asheville North Carolina. His clients include winners of prestigious NRC races and international competitors.
Dee Dee Winfield has a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology and is the current Masters 30+ National Champion and the defending Ed Sander Memorial Cyclocross champion. She is also one fast mother, having won Pennsylvania’s 50 mile Iron Cross while pregnant (she didn’t know at the time) and having scored many of her most important victories since the birth of her daughter Cadence in 2005. As a wife and mother, as well as champion elite racer, she is an expert on balancing life’s “real world” priorities while battling for the podium.
The Lilypons Cyclocross Clinic is strictly limited to just 30 enrollees so as to maintain a 1:5 coach:student ratio. The clinic’s registration fee includes six hours of coaching, a light breakfast, lunch, post-training recovery and registration for the following day’s Ed Sander Memorial Cyclocross.
